Abstract

This research aims to describe the social aspects of the novel Bungkam Suara by J. S. Khairen and its Relevance to Indonesian Language Learning at Nurul Hikmah Islamic Middle School. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method. The research object uses the novel Bungkam Suara with observation, interview and observation data collection techniques and to check the validity of the data using triangulation data collection techniques. Analysis techniques are asked by presenting data, reducing data, presenting data and drawing conclusions. The results of this research are the social aspects of junior high school students, namely critical reasoning, noble character, independence, creativity, global development and mutual cooperation. The data collection uses the Ian Watt model of literary sociology, while the curriculum used is the independent curriculum. This social aspect is relevant to learning Indonesian in junior high school because there are learning outcomes for works of fiction, namely responding to non-fiction and fiction information presented, one of which is by analyzing the elements of literary works.
