This research aims to describe: (1) mind mapping method in learning Indonesian for class VIII SMP Negeri 153 Jakarta; (2) the ability to write speech texts in class VIII students of SMP Negeri 153 Jakarta; (3) The influence of the mind mapping learning method on the ability to write speech texts for class VIII students at SMP Negeri 153 Jakarta. This research is quantitative research with a quasi-experimental approach, with a population of all class VIII students at SMP Negeri 153 Jakarta, even semester of the 2023/2024 academic year with a total of 251 students. The sample used in this research is cluster random sampling which will be divided into 2 groups, namely 36 students in class VIII-1 and 36 students in class VIII-2, the first group is the control class, then the second group is the experimental class. The research results are 1) The use of the mind mapping method was not previously used at SMP Negeri 253 Jakarta; 2) The ability to write speech texts for class VIII students at SMP Negeri 153 Jakarta is still lacking because the students' vocabulary is still small; 3) The mind mapping method influences the ability to write speech texts for class VIII students at SMP Negeri 153 Jakarta
