Education has an important role in human life, and one of the elements that support the success of the learning process is the use of media. Learning media can be in the form of tools that make it easier for students to understand the material, one of which is image media. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of using picture media in learning Social Studies in elementary schools. Using literature study methodology, this research analyzes relevant literature related to the use of picture media in education. The results showed that picture media has a positive effect on student motivation and learning outcomes, because it can clarify the material and facilitate understanding of difficult concepts. The advantages of image media include overcoming space and time limitations, increasing student interest, and facilitating understanding of abstract material. Although there are challenges in selecting appropriate images and differences in understanding between students, the use of image media has proven effective in improving the quality of social studies learning in elementary schools. Therefore, picture media can be used as an appropriate alternative in supporting a more interesting and meaningful learning process.
